What Church Wide Web is for
Websites for churches, ministries and Christian organisations, and the mail and tools that go with them. If you are unsure whether your use fits, write to us first.
Never allowed
Content that sexually exploits or endangers children. We report it to the authorities and close the account.
Asking visitors for passwords, card details or other sensitive information under false pretences (phishing), and fraud or scams of any kind, including false fundraising.
Pretending to be another church, organisation or person.
Spreading malware, or attacking or probing the security of the service or anyone else.
Encouraging violence or terrorism, or threatening or harassing people.
Content that is illegal where it is published or where we operate.
Not allowed
Hateful content that attacks people for who they are. Teaching your faith is not hateful; attacking people is.
Pornography or sexually explicit material.
Publishing other people’s copyrighted work, trademarks or personal information without the right to do so.
Sending spam, or using contact forms, newsletters or mailboxes to send unsolicited bulk messages.
Collecting personal data without telling people why, or keeping it longer than needed.
Using the service mainly to host files or traffic unrelated to the website, or in ways that harm its performance for other churches.
Children
Get consent from a parent or guardian before publishing photographs or details of children, and never publish where a child lives or goes to school.
What we do
When we find or are told about something that breaks this policy, we may remove it, suspend the website or close the account. Where it is safe and lawful we tell the account owner first and give them the chance to put it right. Serious or repeated breaches, and anything that puts people at risk, may be acted on straight away.
Reporting a problem
Use Report abuse to tell us about a website that breaks this policy. Reports are private; we don’t tell the website owner who sent them.
