Who is responsible

Semper Technologies Limited (RC 9571901), 5, Edwin Amadi Street, One Day, Enugu, Nigeria runs Church Wide Web and is responsible for the personal data described here. For the visitors of a church’s website, the church decides how their data is used, and we process it on the church’s behalf: see Data protection.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form) and your role in each website.

Your church’s content: everything you add to your websites, mailboxes and dashboard.

Payments: what you bought, when and for how much. Card details are entered with our payment provider; we never see or store them.

Domains: the owner contact details a registry requires when you buy or move a domain.

Messages to us: what you send through our contact and report forms, support tickets and Ideas & paid work.

Technical information: the pages requested, the browser used and a scrambled (hashed) form of the IP address, used to keep the service secure and working. We don’t keep raw IP addresses in our records.

Why we use it

To provide the service you signed up for (our contract with you), to keep it secure and stop abuse (our legitimate interest), to take payment and keep financial records (a legal obligation), and to answer you when you write to us.

We send emails about your account, such as sign-in codes, renewals and messages from your website. We don’t send marketing email without your agreement, and we never sell personal data.

Cookies

The dashboard uses a cookie to keep you signed in. churchwideweb.com and the church websites we host use no advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we share it with

Only service providers who help us run Church Wide Web, under contracts that require them to protect the data and use it only for us: our infrastructure provider (hosting, storage, security, email delivery and domain registration) and our payment provider (card payments). Account owners can ask us for the names of our providers at any time. Domain owner details go to the registry for the domain, as every registration requires.

We may share data where the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.

Where data is kept

Our providers operate worldwide, so data may be processed outside your country, including outside Nigeria. Where the law requires it we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections, for these transfers.

How long we keep it

Account and website data is kept while your account is open. When a website is closed it is deleted 90 days later (30 days online, then 60 days offline). Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Messages to us are kept as long as needed to deal with them and any follow-up.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your personal data, to object to or limit how we use it, and to withdraw any consent you gave. Much of this you can do yourself in the dashboard; otherwise write to support@churchwideweb.com. We answer within the time the law sets.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Accounts are for adults acting for a church. Churches must take particular care with photographs and details of children on their websites: see our acceptable use policy.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change, and email account owners about significant changes.
